| WHAT IS BEHIND MY DECISION? - in other words, how I ended up here? |
 |
| |
The key to my future is good education. That's why I made a choice with Valley City State University. VCSU has a good CIS program and it is a notebook university. I have also made a choice with VCSU because of its small size - one of the greatest advantages especially as the junior and senior in college. Also I picked it because of the computer, business, and language classes that are offered here.
Well, another important part of my decision was the financial rewards I have received here. I have received an International Student Tuition Waiver, as well as couple of other small scholarships. My second year I have got a job as an RA (Resident Advisor) in the dorms and that paid for my room and board. If you want to find out more information, go to VCSU Homepage.
Location-wise Valley City is not the best place in the world. The closest big city (Fargo - if you can call it big) is one hour away, and big metropolis - four-five hours. That means however, that I will have more time to study. And I'll need a lot of studying to "A"ce 21 credits this semester. Despite all that negatives which sometime drive me crazy, this university will be a good positive educational experience. I hope to turn this experience to advantage for my future graduate education.

| MY COLLEGE FOOTBALL EXPERIENCE - I tried to play some football here... |
 |
| |
Well, I wish they had a soccer program team - I would definitely got a scholarship here. Oh, well. Instead I played some football, as a kicker, of course. Funny how it started. During the summer between my junior and senior years I stayed in ND and did my CIS internship.
I lived in the dorm with other guy, Eddie Mondesir, the kicker on the football team. So we chilled together and he said that I should come and try out for the team. First, I thought he was kidding, but later I decided to give it a go.
It was fun, exciting, challenging and unforgettable experience, considering the fact that we have won the Conference Championship. For more stories, pictures, and my experiences, go to my football page.

| VALLEY CITY - WHAT??? - never heard of it |
 |
| |
Well, here I am... Valley City! What a wonderful... wait, what am I saying? What a hole! In the middle of nowhere, away from the everywhere. and it is cold. Just look at the photos - it snows here all the time!
What would you do for the scholarship, ha? I was saying "If I get a scholarship, I will go anywhere, even to Alaska". I was joking at that time but it turned out that way. For better and worse. For better because I am on the continental US, worse - at least Alaska is pretty, what about North Dakota - plain as a bench? Sometimes I wish I never came across this application, but when I think about it I will meet some really nice people here, make friends, and get an almost free education. However, my future is here and I will be making it here and now.

| COMPUTERS, COMPUTERS - this is the laptop university and I know computers |
 |
| |
Well, this is the laptop university, meaning every student gets a laptop to use for school work. However, most of the students use it to have fun sometimes in the expense of classes. Here is how it works. Every semester we pay a technology fee, a fee that covers lease on the laptops (we have to turn them in at the end of school), and salaries of the IT people.
I've got a job at the helpdesk where I have a chance to help people. Most of them are irritated students who brake their computers. Since this is North Dakota some students see laptops for the first time and that makes thinks worse. However, it looks like everyone picks up the computer skills pretty fast.
