INESSA AND I BOUGHT A NEW CAR - How can we afford it? |

November 16, 2002 is the date that will be entered into the history of the world as the day Inessa and I bought a new car! Yes, brand spanking new - with new car smell and only 120 miles on odometer! Finally a car that we don't have to worry about breaking every time we drive. Well, we went, bargained, and got a good deal on the car we wanted - 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT, and the dealership threw in a tint and a spoiler (watch out, we are going racing) for free. We left the dealership in a new car and a satisfaction of a heavyweight boxer who just won a 15 round match - exhausted physically and emotionally. At least we got the salesman who did not pressure us, but we still had negotiated for 3-4 hours and filled out papers for another 2 hours.

Well, here is the car! Inessa shows off the new ride to the world! Yes, it is also red, just like her old car - but drives much better and has a 10 year warranty.

Here is our interior. Leather, 5-spd manual, AC, CD-AM/FM. And the car gives us 33 MPG, has 2.0L engine with 130 HP, 4-wheel disc brakes, and much more.

One small step for Hyundai, one giant step for Inessa! After all, it is her first NEW car! The plan is to have this car serve us well for the period of next five years while we are in the graduate school studying for PhD.

The revelations was simple: instead of fixing our old Honda every month we can use the same money to pay for the new car! Wow, how come we didn't think of it before? Gee, even our credit gave us a really good deal!

OK, this is not the picture of our car, but it is the same model. I just thought it looks really impressive. Hyundai made a lot of progress in a short period of time. We looked at Kia also, but went with Hyundai.
|

After all, Hyundai had a lot more things included, such as leather, 4-wheel disc brakes, and gas mileage was better. Also, a cruise control was standard, which is great because my right foot gets really tired :)

Wroom, wroom!!! I don't see any oil spots or smoke coming out! Wait, it is our Hyundai's engine, not our old Honda! This baby can crank out some power (not a Corvette, of course) and is pretty fuel efficient, too.
