  •   IT IS TIME - right time to get new wheels (February 28, 2004)
A tribute to my lil old car; thanks for everything, Ford Escort. I guess my little "Silver Arrow" was made well (from the top of the Escort gene pool), it lasted me 6.5 years and roughly 200,000 miles with no major repairs (except clutch pressure plate replacement, $400). If it wasn't for this car, I wouldn't be where I am now. So my hat is off to it.

But just like every old car, it started to have problems, and I knew it would eventually need a lot of work. So I started to look for a new car. I did lots of research, but Subaru was only considered late, after I discovered that this "wagon" can do 0-60 in 5.3 (theoretical). Anyway, enough of bs, enjoy the pictures.

6.5 years and 200,000 miles! Wow, any finance MBA can say that's a heck of a good return on investment (ROI). I bought this baby for $1,000 and never thought twice despite many people laughing at it.
But on the bright side, I am a proud owner (well will be in 4 years, after loan is paid off) of spanking new 2004 Subaru Forester XT. In the end, this car beat out Pontiac Grand Prix to become my top choice.

XT stands for something like X-TURBO. Yeah, this is the top of the line model that has 2.5L engine with tons on torque and heck of a fast acceleration! You can see the turbo's intercooler air intake in the hood. So I will have the last laugh is you think its a slow boxy wagon (Volvos are boxy wagons)!
I hope you can see mt. Charleston behind me. Its a beautiful first day for this car to be in my hands. Did I mention that I got a pretty good deal? I got few quotes from different dealers over email and played them against each other to get the deal I wanted - 5-speed manual turbo red!!!

Mt. Charleston in the background - yeah, there is a little snow on top of the mountain!
Looks nice, right? Me like! Me test-drove! Me bought!!!!

      Wow!
      Sight... Wow!

Full frontal view - pretty aggressive when I pass people in the fast lane!
Who is this guy blocking a view of my car? Oh, never mind, it's me, Mario...

Its actually rather compact, fits great in the parking spot and looks great in the sunset! Just got back from the dealer, can still see the dealer logo instead of front license plate.
Oh yeah, this is worth picturing! The heart of XT - horizontally transposed 16 valve 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine with intercooled turbocharger that spools up at 2,500 rpm (1-2 seconds in 1st gear!!!!)

See something? There is not upper frame in the doors - another Subaru trademark - I like it!
Hate bling-bling wheels - so just have stock wheels - nice rubber - Yokohama high performance tires!

Here is the interior, nice instrument panel, 6 disc changer, everything I need, except fuel economy computer display! Radar detector is personal addition.
The setting is almost like in Hawaii! Yeah, i wanna go to Hawa-eeee!! Anyway, I really like this color, official name of which is Cayenne Red Pearl. Awesome!
