  •   NEW AND IMPROVED (2001-2002 SEASON)

It is the season! It is the season to finally come out of the shadows of Lakers and challenge them for the West Conference title and for the NBA title. Kings are ready to do it with new and improved team, adding Mike Bibby and having a great bench to support the Fabulous Five of the King's Court. Despite Webber's early season injury Kings are still one of the most dominant teams in NBA, no longer the frontier or small market of NBA, but the place with best fans that are expecting a lot from this team. Delivering less than that is a failure, something Kings will never do - because they believe in each other.

      POINTguard OF CHANGE

Was is the steal or was in just the normal move to help the team? I'm taking the about the point of turnaround for the Kings this season, the trade of Jason Williams for Mike Bibby. I think it was both - both guys are happy, Jason gets to play his style and entertain the crowd in Memphis, Mike gets to steady lead the team to promise land of playoffs. Statistically, Jason is having a much better season this year, maybe the sign of finally becoming more mature, but Bibby's numbers aren't bad considering that he is not the only one distributing the ball amongst the Kings.

      KING SIZE DEAL

And it was King Size, even better that what they offer at Burger King. Webber, the most prized free agent of the summer got his wish and along with it inherited the kingdom of Sacramento plus cool $127 million that go along with it. That is a lot of money and as a Kings fan I agree with the amount. You cannot put a price on Webber's talent because it is not just his game that worth that much, it is also his character, charisma, outgoing personality, and leadership. Yes, leadership, the role Webber has to take over whether he likes it or not. Webber can get better and he can deliver, and be worth every penny of that 127 million Maloofs paid him. Just wait...

      REFLECTIONS OF 2000-2001 SEASON

It was almost the perfect season, the best record in franchise history, most victories at home since 1955 team, first round playoff win against Phoenix Suns... and then being swept by future NBA champions Lakers. It was a heartbreaker for me and tens of thousands of Kings fans. I think in off season Kings should focus on becoming more of the winner instead of Best Show on the Court. Oh, yeah, keeping Webber would be nice too. So Kings have their hands full and hopefully 2001-2002 season will be better. Go Kings.
