CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR 2001 IN ORLANDO - best vacation |

Inessa was at Wilson College in Pennsylvania, I was at VCSU in North Dakota
We both had enough of cold weather and decided that we are going to be celebrating New Year 2001 in Orlando, Florida. The plan was for me to fly to Inessa, and then we would take her car and drive it to Orlando. We had reserved a nice hotel in Orlando and on December 20 we started to drive. We drove through Virginia, North and South Carolinas, Georgia, passing and being passed by people who also were heading for Florida. And finally we made it! We drove non-stop and were in Florida in 15 hours. That is really good! So, here is out story.

The weather was great! It was sunny and in the evenings we could go out and enjoy outdoors because it was so warm. Here we are in the entertainment district of Orlando enjoying a night out.
|
|
We also went shopping for Christmas presents: the best place to do it was Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets. We shopped (or actually walked and looked) till we dropped, but I still got some nice presents for Inessa.

We also went to nearby Cape Canaveral where all the US spaceships are launched. Here we are on the pad over viewing the area, behind us you can barely see the launch pad for the shuttle Discovery, however the shuttle wasn't there.
|

Instead, the shuttle was in this huge hangar, just being delivered form California after it has landed there. It had to go through two weeks of checkups and then it was ready for another launch. We missed the launch by 21 days.

Inessa is taking a break from the miniature golf game we played and she beat me.
|
|
Those stupid deer weren't hungry even though I tried to feed them some food.
|

Ocean was cold but I still took a walk in the water. Still there were few cruise ships on the horizon.
|
|
It was also windy, and that reflects in Inna's hair. She was really happy to be on the Florida coast!

On the New Year's Eve I have proposed to Inessa and she accepted. So here afterwards she is all happy with her new ring!
|
|
Yep, we had fun and Florida is definitely is the place where we will becoming back to celebrate different occasions.
