RETURNING TO TORONTO - exploring Toronto in more detail |

(Travel Dates: June 2001)
I guess Inessa and I love Canada so much that we decided to go there again. Love was part of the reason. Another part was renewing my student visa, always a pain in the a**. At least this time it was much warmer there! So we went the same rout, driving from PA through Buffalo, but this time we stayed at the Marriott near the airport in Toronto. There was this really cool bar called Arizona (I have no idea why, it Canada, yei) - they served really good drinks and food and had decent music. Canadians know how to have fun! Plus the food there was pretty cheap. Restaurant meal with drinks for two cost Inessa and I around 25$. In US, similar feast would cost us around 35-40$.

OK, we went shopping for few gifts in Toronto. We went to a place called Toronto Eaton Centre, a big mall in the middle of Toronto.
It is just like many of US malls, except with Canadian flavor. We shopped for a bit, hang out and enjoyed the architecture of the place.

NIAGARA FALLS - waterfall rules, casinos suck (day trip from Toronto) |
| |
We spent one day at the Niagara Falls and actually went down to the center of it all on a little boat. After waiting in line for about 30 minutes we got on the boat heading to the center of the waterfall with nothing but a protective plastic raincoat. Despite that coat, I was soaking wet and almost broke Inessa's camera because I was taking pictures and got it wet. Anyway, it was really cool experience. The power of that fall is so great, it is just unbelievable! The mist is so strong that the water gets in your eyes and it is really hard to see...

Well, crazy us. We took a boat, the Maid of the Mist, right into the heart of the Niagara Falls. After standing in line for about half an hour and feeling that you are the only person speaking english there, we finally got some plastic raincoats that were suppose to protect us from mist and stepped aboard the boat.
Well here I am, all wet and for some reason smiling. I usually not happy when I get wet because of the rain or any water in that case. However, the fall was spectacular, the raw power of the water, the roar of it hitting the bottom is overwhelming. And mist is everywhere, those stupid blue plastic things didn't help!

Here is Inessa on board overlooking Niagara. She is going to be really wet in a few minutes. Few minutes later the camera that we used to take pictures gets wet and stops working. We let it dry for a day and it was working again after that and we even saved the film!

I'm soooooo cool. Looking at this picture now I can guess that I haven't been shaving between 5 to 25 days. I thought new shades and this go-tee will make me look old enough, but i still was carded at the Niagara Falls casino. PS: they are jerks and casino sucks!
