| FIRST TIME - I was very excited... |

YELLOWSTONE National Park was known to me from the documentaries on the TV and some stories. Actually, I haven't thought about it that much after I have visited Yosemite National Park in California last year. However, after entering the part it was completely different.
The park is so big, it has roads that support tens of thousands of tourists that come over to see Old Faithful, famous geyser. We drove about an hour before we got the the geyser. There were a lot of beautiful scenery on the way.

| OLD FAITHFUL GEYSER - it is a real wonder! |

With all the commercialization of the park, the area around this wonder is the most developed since the geyser goes of every 55 minutes or so, people have to do something for an hour - so there are tons of overpriced burger joints, cottage souvenir shops, and even benches for spectators. We got to the front row early and had a great view of this spectacular show. They geyser first was warming up -s pitting little portions of water, and then after a minute it went of - so hi and powerful - I managed to take many pictures and the one on the left is the best one!

| IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT - I can see clearly all the stars |
| |
Imagine the sky where you can see every single star - even the most little one - without any device, just with your eyes. Well, it is possible in Yellowstone. Since it doesn't have any major light source, like a big city, within two hours of it, the sky is lit with stars at night. The picture on the right is a scan of the post card of the Hale-Bopp comet passing in the sky above the National Park. This is one of the few places in the world where I have seen sky that big and that rich with stars.

| I HAVE JUST ONE WISH - don't have bears eat our food! |
| |
I wish we could stay in that park for a few days or even a week. Just get backpacks and go camping for days, try to go to the remote park of the park, so we don't have to see damn tourists in huge campers and buses from Florida or Texas who drive 10 mph.

It is a big drive from one end of the park to another. We entered the park from Idaho and exited in MOntana on our way to Valley City, ND (part of my going to college trip - link). Before exiting the park we stopped one more time to take a look at the elks that were just walking around by the rest area.
But older elks that I guess have more experience and are not domesticated yet are still running in the wild. This one is huge! He was standing in the distance and thanks to my zoom we got a good picture of this huge elk.

Inessa is standing next to one of many geysers. They are pretty small compare to Old Faithful but still emit a lot of heat. All land around then is yellow, no wonder they call it Yellowstone!
We were driving and then suddenly - boom - a buffalo walking along side of the road! We quickly snapped this picture out of the window and accelerated because he didn't look too happy.
